Part two in our series of articles around volunteers at the Centre;

We often think we are doing students a favour when we offer them a placement in Killaloe/Ballina Community and Family Resource Centre. More often than not the students give far more that they get. A case in point is a mature student who came to us on placement a number of years ago, who subsequently became a volunteer and a board member and transformed the organisation.
This student, who developed a beautiful intergenerational project with us, came here at a time when we were at a very low ebb and gave us new life.
After joining the board the volunteer was instrumental in streamlining the organisation, helping us to put systems and structures in place that enabled us to develop and grow with confidence. This person also became the public face of the centre in the broader Killaloe/Ballina community raising the profile and enhancing the reputation of the centre. What a gift to us.
