Best of luck to the 8 new volunteers who have joined the Killaloe Unit of the Irish Coast Guard, in the coming weeks the 3 female and 5 male recruits will start an in-depth training schedule covering all manner of mountain and water search and rescue techniques. The Coast Guard can be called upon in all manner of conditions and the commitment of these local men and women cannot be praised enough.
If you spot someone in trouble on the water, on the cliffs or mountains, even if you just suspect that they may be in trouble, dial 112 or 999 and ask for the Coast Guard.
