If consuming dairy milk, always heat it and add some spices (cinnamon, cardomom, ginger, fennel, etc).
The Reason: In Ayurveda, milk is regarded as Kapha increasing (heavy & sticky). Heating it and adding spices helps to balance this effect.
According to Ayurveda, dairy milk is a highly nutritious and beneficial food, if your body can digest if properly. Otherwise it can cause mucous congestion, inflammation and aggravate many health conditions.
(Try to buy organic, raw or unhomogenised milk and never heat it in a microwave).
