by Killaloe/Ballina Community & Family Resource Centre

Bealtaine Festival presents-Good Night Irene performed by Julie Sharkey in the Community Café (next to the centre) on Main Street Killaloe, Friday 24th May at 2pm. Admission is free, with tea/coffee/scones available to purchase in the cafe. See information below. Come along, bring your family, friends, neighbours, groups and spread the word, a lovely event for everyone to enjoy.

Irene O’Brien is a street musician, a busker who can never go home. Despite golden memories of her childhood and particularly of her father’s market garden, referred to by all as The Garden of Eden, she can’t return to the house of her youth for reasons only she can understand. So she uses Café Manana, owned by Breda, the Queen of the Bottomless Coffee Cup and Marguerite, the Princess of the Greasy Till as her home from home. Guitar playing Irene regales the audiences with stories about the characters she’s met (Itchy who smokes sixty a day, Donal Shakespeare and lots more) while belting out old favourite tunes like O’Brien Has No Place to Go, King of the Road, Ely O’Grady and of course Goodnight Irene. Please see listings for tour details. A Chamelon Production.
