Clare's Senior fire officers are urging members of the public to extra vigilant over the weekend following a spate of gorse and forestry fires in the county.
Services have been stretched to capacity this week as fire- fighters from all stations tackled blazes in numerous locations including Kilmaley, Killaloe, Twomilegate, Doonbeg, Ogonnelloe, Connolly, Tulla, Doolin and Crusheen.
Fire officers are warning that both life and property are being put at risk from the fires which have destroyed hundreds of acres of land and forestry while they have also reduced the service’s capability to respond quickly to other emergency incidents.
Firte services were last night called to two incidents,at Ballydineen near Kilmihil and a seperate blaze between Kilkee and Doonaha.
Senior Fire Officer Dennis O Connell is urging farmers in particular to be extremly careful if they are carrying out buring on their lands
