Sailing on Lough Derg
Killaloe Coast Guard while on patrol went to the assistance of a 7mtr sail Boat that got into difficulty at Ballyvalley. Two Persons were on board. Killaloe Coast Guard towed the boat to safety.

Killaloe Coast Guard were tasked to investigate a report from a member of the public to Killaloe Garda Station of a boat that appeared to have no one on board and was out of the normal navigation channel, Killaloe Garda then contacted Killaloe Coast Guard to investigate The boat was found to be a barge which had anchored for the night with three persons on board asleep.

Stuck at Killaloe Bridge
Killaloe Coast Guard were tasked to an Emerald Star Line Cruiser by Vanentia Coast Guard Co Ordinatig Centre. The Hired Cruiser got into difficulty when a rope got tangled around its propeller, causing it to loose control and get stuck in the first ach of Killaloe Bridge just under Molly’s Bar. The three persons and the craft were safely towed to safe moorings at Ballina.

Visit to Killaloe Coast Guard
The Killaloe Boy’s National School 3rd and 4th class visited the Killaloe Coast Guard Unit. The event was organised by the Killaloe Library. The pupils with their teachers had a great time while the Coast Guard volunteers introduced them to the equipment i.e boats underwater camera first aid etc. After this a short slide show on water safety was given. Early Morning Call
Killaloe Coast Guard was tasked to assist the Killaloe Gardai following a report that a female was observed entering the water south of Killaloe Bridge in the early hours of the morning. The Killaloe Rescue Boat, a Land Search Team and the Under Water Remote Controlled Camera completed an intensive search of the area downstream with the assistance of Killaloe Ballina Search & Recovery.

The Valentia Coast Guard Radio Reigion have won the overall Jim Kirwin Cup for a third time in a row at the Joint Search & Rescue Games which took place in Mullroy Co Donegall over the week end. The need to wear a life Jacket and Refrain from Alcohol.
Killaloe Coast Guard received a call from a member of the public that a speed Boat was a drift at reed beds just North of Killaloe no persons visible on Board. When rescue boat arrived on scene one person was found to be on board and unconscious from alcohol and was not wearing a life jacket. The Person and his craft were towed to Kincora Harbor.
