Killaloe CGU were tasked to assist Doolin and Kilkee CGU yesterday for the final day of the search for a missing person at the Cliffs of Moher. Unfortunately the missing person has not been located. Well done to all the teams that participated in this search. Killaloe CGU call out 3 and Sector call out 57 of 2013.

Search Skills Course – 20 volunteers from Doolin, Kilkee and Killaloe CGU’s attended a search skills course today in Ennis. Thanks to the students for attending and well done to Megan & Caitriona from Doolin for a successful first day instructing this course.

Speed Boat Adrift at Killaloe
Killaloe Coast Guard Unit were tasked by Valentia Coast Guard (Marine Rescue Sub Centre) after a call from a member of the public reported a speed boat adrift near Killaloe. A quick response fro Killaloe Coast Guard took control of the vessel which was brought and secured to safe mooring.

Killaloe National School
The pupils of Killaloe National School paid a visit to the local Killaloe Coast Guard Unit today and were shown the resources available to the community for an emergency They were also given a safety on the water presentation which covered Swimming Sea and River, Boating, Fishing and what to do in an emergency. While at the Units base they were treated to a live tasking to a speed boat adrift.

26′ Cruiser Taking on Water
Killaloe Coast Guard Unit was tasked to a 26′ Timber Cabin Cruiser that had run aground between O’Briens Bridge and Clonlara and was taking on water. The Skipper owner and three children were taken to safety. All nearly 3.5 hours using coast guard salvage pumps all efforts to re float the boat failed.
