Engine Failure on lough Derg

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit while on maneuvers on Lough Derg assisted a Power Cruiser that lost engine power. The craft with three adults and one child on board and all wearing life jackets were towed to safe harbour.

Yacht Adrift at Killaloe

Killaloe Coast Guard was tasked to a report of a Sailing Cruiser adrift south of Killaloe Bridge. Killaloe Coast Guard who was preparing for an overnight training exercise from Foynes to Ballybunnion launched immediately the vessel was recovered and tied up a Ballina Moorings with no one on board.

The Crew then proceeded to Foynes by Road launched at Foynes Yacht Club and carried out training

Search on the River Shannon.

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit was tasked by Valentia MRSC when a fisherman reported a fishing boat a drift whit no one on board on the lower lake below Killaloe. Swimmers thought to be in danger near Killaloe

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit were requested by Valentia NRSC to investigate a 999 call that two persons were seen in the water just below Goosers on the Ballina Side of the R Shannon as there was no boat in the area and the weather conditions were very poor at the time a genuine concerne was expressed by onlookers. Lough Derg Rescue

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit were tasked by Valentia MRSC to an incidend reported by Killaloe Gardai, that they received a report of a dingy with four persons on Lough Derg near Castlelough in distress.

Small Sail Boat Adrift at Killaloe

Killaloe Coast Guard received a call from the local Gardai that a small craft was adrift near the Pierhead and could become a danger to navigation. The Sailing boat was secured safely.

Pollution Averted as Barge Sinks on Lough Derg

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit was tasked by Valentia MRSC to a 60′ Barge that was sinking at its mooring on Lough Derg. The Killaloe Coast Guard Unit dispatched two vehicles with crew and salvage pumps by road and the rescue boat “DALTON” was sent to place anti-pollution booms to avoid pollution to Lough Derg.

How not to stay Cool.

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit was tasked to remove a fridge freezer from the moorings at Ballina. The fridge was being used as a boat. A concerned member of the public called Valentia Coast Guard MRSC. The fridge was removed from the area.

During the current hot spell the Killaloe Coast Guard Unit would ask you do not swim in areas where there is no lifeguard or not designated as a safe swimming

Report of Pollution at Coolebawn on Lough Derg

Killaloe Coast Guard was tasked by MRSC Valentia to a report of what appeared to be Pollution just off Coolebawn on Lough Derg. The Rescue Rib “Dalton was launched to the scene. After an extensive search of the area nothing was discovered.
