Boat Adrift on Lough Derg
Killaloe Coast Guard were tasked by MRSC Valentia when a member of the public reported a boat adrift on the lower lake with no visible person on board. Killaloe Coast Guard Unit launched their rescue rib ” Dalton” to the scene. The craft was located with no sign that anyone was or had been on board. Flare Sighted on Lough Derg

Killaloe Coast Guard Tasked
Killaloe Coast were tasked to contain a small fuel spill from a 32′ Cruiser which sank at Kincora Harbour spilling Diesel and engine oil into the harbour. Booms were placed at the mouth of the harbour to contain pollution. The Coast Guard at Killaloe would request all boat owners to check on their boats after the cold spell.

Search on Frozen Lake near O’Briens Bridge
Killaloe Coast Guard was tasked by MRSC Valentia to a report from Killaloe Garda that someone may have fallen through the Ice at a Lake situated at the junction of the R466 and R463 near O,Briens Bridge in Co Clare.

Killaloe Coast Guard were tasked by the Killaloe Garda when a Vehicle was observed in the water in an east Clare Lake. Killaloe Coast Guard was tasked to assist a 66′ barge that was towing a 30′ pontoon when it failed to make headway against a very strong flow of water just south of Killaloe Bridge. The Barge with its two occupants was assisted to the calmer waters of the canal.

Two Boaters Show their experiance on Lough Derg.
Killaloe Coast Guard was tasked by Killaloe Gardai and Valentia MRSC to a 31′ Cruiser that had lost propulsion when its drive gears failed. The two on board are experienced boaters and immediately dropped anchor and called for assistance while remaining calm and safe. Killaloe Coast Guard took the craft and its two passengers in tow to Kincora Harbour.
