Early Morning Call

Killaloe Coast Guard was tasked to assist the Killaloe Gardai following a report that a female was observed entering the water south of Killaloe Bridge in the early hours of the morning. The Killaloe Rescue Boat, a Land Search Team and the Under Water Remote Controlled Camera completed an intensive search of the area downstream with the assistance of Killaloe Ballina Search & Recovery.

Broken down on Lough Derg

Killaloe Coast Guard were called by a member of the public to assist a Cruiser that had broken down near Parkers Point with 4 Adults and 3 Children on board the boat and passangers were towed safely to a private harbour near Ogonnolloe.

The need to wear a life Jacket and Refrain from Alcohol.

Killaloe Coast Guard received a call from a member of the public that a speed Boat was a drift at reed beds just North of Killaloe no persons visible on Board. When rescue boat arrived on scene one person was found to be on board and unconscious from alcohol and was not wearing a life jacket. The Person and his craft were towed to Kincora Harbor.

8 Teenagers No Life Jackets

Killaloe Coast Guard was called by a member of the public who were concerned that 8 teenagers who were on the northern side of the Lough Derg in a 17’ Lake Boat and wearing no life jackets. Killaloe Coast Guard was requested by the Coast Guard Command Centre at Valentia to investigate and advise. Life Saved at Killaloe

Killaloe Coast Guard were called when a 22 year old male fell approx 20ft into the water at the Lakeside Hotel. The Coast Guard Rescue Rib was immediatly launched and the casualty taken to the Killaloe Coast Guard Base where he was treated for Hypothermia and minor injuries befor been taken by ambulance to the Regional Hospital in Limerick. Killaloe Gardai were also on scene.

12 People Saved on the R Shannon at Killaloe.

Killaloe Coast Guard were called by a member of the public in the late hours of Good Friday who reported that a boat was taking on water approximately 1.5 km south of Killaloe Bridge with ten young adults on board.

Major Search for Missing Person

Killaloe Coast Guard were requested by the Newport Garda to assist in the search for a missing 62 year old male, last seen at 0900am on the 4th of March. The man from Foxford Co Mayo was visiting the area Cragg, Birdhill, went for a walk and had not returned. 17 year old rescued from steep revene

Killaloe Coast Guard were called to assist an ambulance crew from the HSE. The call came after the 17 year old fell down a reven in an area known localy as the Glen Garraunnboy Killaloe and dislocated his knee the teenager had his mobile phone and was able to raise the alarm, however the reven was too steep to allow the stretcher to be carried out. Search for Missing Farmer

Killaloe Coast Guard Unit were called to assist in the search for an elderly farmer that went missing at 16:00hrs, near Quinn in Co Clare neighbours, Gardai and civil defence conducted a search of the area, however as darkness set in the Coast Guard Helicopter from Shannon and the Killaloe coast Guard were asked to assist in the search.
The farmer was located by the Irish Coast Guard helicopter

Recovery at the Cliffs of Moher

Killaloe Coast Guard were tasked to assist Doolin Coast Guard to recover a female adult from the base of the Ciffs of Moher. Eight members from Killaloe travelled to assist Doolin Coast Guard in an operation that took over four hours to complete and required two members of the Doolin Cllff Rescue team to climb down to the base of the cliff.
