The fifth installment in our series of articles about volunteers involved in our Centre…

There are so many qualities that make a great volunteer including skills, qualifications, passion, commitment and life experience. The volunteer I want to celebrate has these qualities in abundance, along with a great sense of fun!
She is our lead youth worker for the last two years and has made a huge impact on the development of youth-work at the Centre. Not only does she support a team of other fabulous youth volunteers but she oversees the weekly Fusion Youth Club. The club promotes youth led activities giving young people the opportunity to get involved, develop their skills and cultivate a sense of wellbeing in a safe space. Among their many activities members have taken part in the St. Patrick’s Day parade, gone on trips, run pool competitions, had movie nights and organised a ‘sleep out’ to raise money for their club and the Simon Community.
Young people can be among the most vulnerable in our community. This volunteer has a keen awareness of their vulnerablity and brings passion and determination to her support for them developing several programmes and initiatives in the area of youth health and wellness.
Her commitment as a volunteer has had an invaluable effect on youth work at the Centre and she has enriched the lives of many. Thanks a million.
