There were fears that the NRA would lodge a formal objection because of the potential loss of revenue to a toll bridge crossing the Shannon in Limerick city. However, Deputy Alan Kelly believes these concerns are ill-founded and should not prevent progress on a vital piece of infrastructure. The project is currently at oral hearing stage in Nenagh.
“Following recent media reports on this project I made it my business to raise this matter directly with the NRA. As the State’s primary agency for roads, their views would be very influential. However I am happy to confirm that that the NRA will not be objecting to the bridge” stated Deputy Kelly.
