Killaloe,
Co Clare, where the Killaloe Hedge-School of Writing is located, is
one of Ireland's best-kept secrets. Stunningly beautiful, the one-time
capital of Ireland (in the 11th-century reign of High King Brian Boru),
lies on the banks of the Shannon, hemmed in between the mountains
of Clare and Tipperary. It is 15 miles upriver from Limerick; 30 miles
from Shannon Airport and 105 miles from Dublin. It
is a superb location for writing workshops, to which participants
have come from all over Ireland, as well as from Scotland, England,
Wales, Spain, Holland, Austria, Germany, France, Monaco, China,
Pakistan, New Zealand, USA (New York, Chicago, Boston & Indianapolis).
Killaloe is a centre for river cruising on
the longest river in Britain or Ireland: the Shannon is more than
200 miles long.
Many visitors combine one of our workshops
with a river cruise or a motoring tour of Ireland. For details contact
